Ah, Valentine’s Day. Here once again to split the nation of lovers and haters of the Hallmark holiday. Those of the former category are ready to spend their day spreading love near and far, embracing all things soppy from love songs to romcoms and admittedly, we’re with them on the rom-com front. Even the coolest of cucumbers among us have watched and rewatched their favourite movies, wishing they’d been smooth enough to have delivered the same swoon-worthy lines or at least been on the receiving end of some of them. There’s nothing like a killer script to deliver a flawless love story, the kind that its audience members can only dream of.

To spread the love in honour of Valentine’s Day we’re spotlighting some of the most romantic movie quotes of all time. Prepare to swoon.

The Notebook

Noah: “So it’s not gonna be easy. It’s going to be really hard; we’re gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, every day.”

Notting Hill

Anna: “I’m also just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.”

The Danish Girl

Lili: “I love you because you are the only person who made sense of me. And made me possible.”

Juno

Juno: “In my opinion, the best thing you can do is find someone who loves you for exactly what you are. Good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty, handsome, what have you.”

It’s A Wonderful Life

George: “You want the moon? Just say the word and I’ll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. I’ll give you the moon.”

Father of the Bride

George: “I knew I’d never be able to remember what Nina wore that day. But I also knew I’d never forget the way she looked.”

When Harry Met Sally

Harry: “I love that you get cold when it’s 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you’re looking at me like I’m nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it’s not because I’m lonely, and it’s not because it’s New Year’s Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.”
