A Quick Guide To Getting Started With Essential Oils

WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS?

Essential Oils are natural aromatic compounds extracted from flowers, stems, roots, seeds, bark and other parts of plants. Each oil contains unique natural properties that can have powerful effects and benefits on health and overall wellness, as well as being useful around the home.

METHODS OF USE
AROMATIC: Essential oils that can be used in the air aromatically. Using oils in a diffuser is one of the most popular and effective ways to enjoy the aromatic benefits of essential oils.

INTERNAL: Essential oils that can be used internally. You can add oils to water and other beverages, ingest them within essential oils supplements, or add them to recipes.

TOPICAL: Essential oils that can applied directly on the skin, or mixed in a blend with carrier oils (such as Fractionated Coconut Oil or Sweet Almond Oil).

THE STARTER OILS

LEMON
Properties: Uplifting, Cleansing, Revitalising

USES:
Diffuse for a refreshing and uplifting scent, while purifying the air.
Add to a spray bottle of water as a surface cleaner for countertops, and other surfaces.
Add to desserts for zesty flavour.
Take internally to support healthy digestion.*
Use to remove glue, chewing gum, or other sticky residues.

LAVENDER
Properties: Calming, Soothing, Relaxation

USES:
Use in a diffuser or add a few drops to your pillow or feet to aid in a restful night’s sleep.
Add a few drops to a warm bath for a soothing soak.
Consume 1–2 drops to help calm the nervous system and reduce stress levels.*
Apply to the skin topically to help reduce the appearance of blemishes.

PEPPERMINT
Properties: Cooling, Natural Insect Repellent, Digestive Aid

USES:
For a refreshing, clearing aroma, diffuse around the home.
Apply a few drops to the back of your neck to cool off.
Take internally to help alleviate an upset stomach.*
Add to shampoo or conditioner for a stimulating and invigorating scalp massage.
Remove tension by rubbing on head and/or neck.

TEA TREE
Properties: Cleansing, Soothing, Healing

USES:
Use as an effective surface cleaner around the home.
Add 1/2 drops to your facial cleanser or moisturiser for added cleansing properties.
Apply to fingernails and toenails to keep nails healthy and looking clean.
Add to toothpaste or gargle with diluted water for a quick and easy mouth wash.
