When summer turns to fall and a new season comes around, this can only mean one thing for beauty enthusiasts – new makeup! There are lots of exciting and inspiring beauty trends emerging this season, with some being easier to emulate than others. Here are our top three makeup trends for fall that are super easy to achieve, updating your look in an instant:
Metallics are huge this season, and because there are such a variety of shades in the metallic spectrum, it’s easy for everyone to incorporate this trend into their fall (and winter) beauty looks. For the faint-hearted who prefer a subtle approach, it can be as simple as adding a touch of sparkle over your everyday eyeshadow, such as the newly launched Victoria Beckham for Estee Lauder Eye Foil in Blonde Gold. Or perhaps you’d like to ramp up the drama a little by adding a metallic eyeliner below the lower lash line for a striking pop of gilt. Check out Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils
For full-on metallic glamour, look no further than the Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow which applies in a couple of swift sweeps, leaving a glowing, glittery finish perfect for this season and beyond.
Of course, metallics mustn’t be limited to the eyes alone – metallic lips are big business this season. Whilst metallic lip glosses are readily available, why not try applying a subtle glitter finish such as the VB Eye Foil as a top coat over your regular lipstick. This approach works particularly well over a nude lip base.
Finally, who doesn’t like to indulge in a splash highlighter? Our favourite new product launch this season is the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Light Wand, which adds the most flawless glow along the cheekbones, bridge of the nose and Cupid’s bow.
Pops of vibrant colour were seen all over the catwalks for this season, meaning the more daring amongst us can get creative using all those bold eyeshadows that are rarely used in our favourite shadow palettes. Now is the time to go bold, experiment and splash a bit of colour on those lids!
Furthermore, we can embrace the metallics beauty trend and make the eyes really pop with the addition of a coloured liner above and below the lash line. If desired, you can even use this liner all over the lid! Consider your colour choices here – a purple liner makes green eyes stand out, whilst blue eyes sparkle with a turquoise or emerald pencil. Lastly, brown eyes are complimented with an electric blue or navy contrast. Have fun and experiment, as just about anything goes when it comes to this beauty trend! Check out this Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner – the selection offers a wide array of vibrant colours.
It’s such a cliché, as berry lips are in fashion every fall, but this year the trend works towards a more blotted or blurred lip effect. Picture how your perfect lip application looks once it has been well blotted, or has worn off a little. Matte formulas will be your best friend here. The Glossier Generation G Lipstick in ‘Jam’ is ideal for this look as it provides an effortless matte berry lip that is not overdone. Another way to achieve this trending look is to take a berry lip liner (Mac Currant is a favourite) and draw it all over the lip, smudging it in with your lips before finally blotting with a tissue. There are so many striking shades to choose from to compliment your colouring and skin tone – from berries to plums and wines – there’s no reason we can’t all enjoy a festive lip this season!
