NYE Makeup Looks That Take Less Than 10 Minutes

Are you the kind of person who loves the idea of spending hours getting dolled up but hates the follow through? In group situations maybe you’re the one faffing around and procrastinating while friends get ready around you. Chatting away while sipping on a prosecco until suddenly everyone else is ready and you’ve ten minutes to play catch up. We can totally relate…

If forward planning is not one of your strengths then you’ll need to rely on speed.  The safest bet is to focus on one area of your face to make the statement – either eyes or lips – then keep everything else simple. Think of it like completing an LBD with that perfect statement accessory that at the click of your fingers, takes the outfit to a ten.

If you’re reading this then chances are you’re a fellow last minute makeup girl. Whether you’ve opted for the sultry approach, a statement lip or decided to embrace a bolder eye look, we’ve got you covered – and you won’t have to dedicate an entire evening to perfecting it.

The Melted Lip

The melted lip (or blurred lip stain, whichever you prefer) is designed by nature for quick, fuss-free application and doesn’t require the precision of lip liner. It’s rebellious and unintentionally messy which mean you don’t have to worry about touching it up post-drinks or appetisers.

Try Glossier’s Generation G in shade Jam for a festive berry blurred lip. The product was developed to be buildable in coverage so when you opt for the more sheer end of the product’s spectrum, the finish is ideal for this kind of look. You can even safely deposit it into your winter makeup bag for a more precise berry lip look further down the line.

For the rest of your face you’ll want to keep the usual shine suspects in check (for most this means the T-Zone) with a trusted loose powder without compromising on the healthy glow of a sheer foundation used to illuminate your complexion. Brush brows up for a voluminous and messy look that corresponds with the effortless vibe of the blurred lip.

Super Sultry

We’re passionate about the power of a good eyeshadow palette and this is the perfect example for when those pesky palettes come in handy. For the most part you can go about your base as usual, leaving only your choice of bronzer and lip right until the end. The best thing about eyeshadow palettes is that there is such a vast amount of tutorials out there, the majority of which will take you less than ten minutes to complete.

The joy of a smokey eye is that it instantly makes you feel party ready. There’s something about a good smokey eye that makes you feel powerful and channels your inner sexy. It requires minimum effort with the rest of your makeup so energy doesn’t wane while putting the eyeshadow look together. For best results, complete the eyeshadow first and use cotton pads to gently wipe away any product fallout. That way you don’t have to worry about wiping off any of your handiwork with the makeup base.

Bright Eyes

When it comes to New Year’s Eve makeup, the now or never approach works best. Now is the time to try out some of the boldest looks you’ve been contemplating all year. First on our list this year is fashion week favourite, fuchsia eyeshadow. All you need is three minutes to spare, some scotch tape left over from your gift wrapping in the days prior and a small fluffy eyeshadow brush.

Place the scotch tape along the outer corner of each eye, much like everyone’s favourite liquid eyeliner hack and using your eyeshadow brush plus eyeshadow of choice, buff the colour over the lid, using the tape as a stencil. Keep the rest of the look clean and simple, light handed with the blush and a swipe of gloss on the lips. If you feel like a kid whose just got her hands on makeup for the first time, you’re doing it right. The fash pack will appreciate your fashion forward approach to New Year’s Eve party makeup.
