Snakeskin Is Everywhere This Season. Here’s How To Make The Trend Your Own

Regardless of where you find your fashion inspiration in the last few weeks snakeskin has become completely inescapable. It ruled the streets of Paris, Milan and New York Fashion Week collectively and the influencers and fashion insiders of Instagram have taken to flooding our feeds with the trend simultaneously.

While we all love the ease of following a trend, we also wholeheartedly support the individualism that fashion allows us in expressing ourselves. With that in mind we understand the frustration and importance of making the trend your own. Plus – not to be the bearer of bad news – animal print (snakeskin included) is set to stick around with a starring role this season so it’s best we try to embrace the trend and make peace with it as early on as possible.

The good news is the unsuspected versatility of snakeskin, as proved by the street style stars of Paris Fashion Week who braved looks ranging from head-to-toe orange snakeskin jumpsuits, layered waistcoats over lace and subtle nods to the trend through their footwear. Virgil Abloh gave the trend its moment to shine on the catwalk as a standout motif at the Off-White Spring 2019 runway show last Thursday night (albeit in a neon green approach to the trend which we’re keen to see fashion insiders style on the streets).

In a sea of snakeskin, here’s how to reign as Queen of the Jungle all season long.

1. Go Hard or Go Home

Sometimes when fashion throws its most wacky and wild (pardon the pun) trends at you there’s really nothing better to do than to call its bluff and go all in. In the case of snakeskin, break out of your comfort zone and embrace the ‘more is more’ approach in its entirety.

2. It’s All in The Shoes

The most essential piece in our wardrobes for autumn is unquestionably our boots. Chances are you’ve got your bases almost, if not completely covered with the staple pairs (black, brown, over the knee) but you’ve still got a sneaky little spot left for a statement boot. Upgrade your collection with a snakeskin-effect pair.

Style with jeans and a structured but oversized blazer. Sticking with the oversized theme, complete the look with a crisp white shirt.

3. A Gentle Nod

Believe it or not the snakeskin trend is one even for the most timid fashionistas. If you’re determined not to look like everyone else when wearing the trend and yet don’t want to be left out, indulge in an update of your accessories collection to incorporate much more on-trend, snakeskin pieces.
