The Ultimate Coat Edit

One of the new season’s greatest pleasures – choosing a coat – is ironically also one its biggest battles.

It all happens very suddenly. One minute it’s mid-October and every day is a new sartorial struggle as the transitional weather and glorious new climate change confusions mean despite the chill in the air when you wake, by lunch time you’re desperately peeling off the layers.

Before you know it, it’s November. The occasional autumnal chills of October are long gone and in their place a call to all to cosy up, whip out the jumpers and finally purchase a coat to see you through winter.

But where to start?

Do you go all out and invest in a classic? The Max Mara Icon coat for instance – classic, elegant, an overall cut above the rest and a coat with a legacy to see you through many seasons to come.

What about the faux fur? We can’t forget the faux fur. Wrapped up, hot drink in hand, fire blazing – you know no winter night out is complete without a good fur coat on hand.

Oh and of course, there’s that statement coat that practically jumped out at you, frantically calling your name from the confines of the shop window – on more than one occasion might we add. You’ve planned at least seven different outfits around said coat which in turn dramatically increased the length of your AW18 shopping list but alas, you don’t care. You’ve got to have the coat.

And then there’s the animal print. The beloved, never too much animal print.

The struggle is real but we’ve got you covered…The Style Edit has teamed up with West Coast Cooler FASHIONWEEK director, Cathy Martin and photographer, Glenn Norwood to style the ultimate new season coat edit and help you get your choices all wrapped up before the cold snap hits.
