Former model and ‘It’ girl Lady Victoria Hervey is now making waves with her new swimwear collection.
Ladyship is a line of bikinis, swimsuits, cover ups and accessories all inspired by Victoria’s own love of the beach. Explaining the reason behind the brand she explains on the website: “People who know me know that I live in swimsuits pretty much all year long. My inner compass has a way of finding the best sunny spots in the world! That was the genesis of my swimsuit creations, comfortable and beautiful at all times.”
The Style Edit caught up with the socialite turned businesswoman to find out what inspires her and how she keeps herself bikini-body ready.
How and why did you decide to start your own swimwear brand?
It was something that came naturally to me with living in California, and therefore spending a lot of time at the beach. Having Malibu so close is a dream.
How involved were you with the collection?
I was 100 % involved with every aspect; from designing it, to sourcing the materials and overseeing the making right through to casting and fitting the models.
Have you a favourite piece?
I love the style of the one piece with the gold leopard on it as it can be worn as a body as well as a swimsuit but it’s hard to pick a favourite.
What has been the reaction to the brand?
The reaction has been incredible and really exciting. I was asked to do shows for the launch all over – from Hong Kong to Monaco.
Who or what inspires you?
I’m continually inspired by my travels and the architecture I see on them. It’s one of the reasons I find it hard to sit still for too long as I lose that flow of inspiration and begin to stagnate. I also love visiting churches on my travels.
What motivates you?
I’m motivated by the people around me, my yoga teacher and from studying Kabbalah.
How do you stay in such amazing shape?
I stay in good shape by following a really healthy diet. Five days a week I’m vegan and then the other two days I’ll allow myself dairy and meat. I’ve also cut out all white carbohydrates. I’ve recently been researching Dr Sebi and the alkaline diet. You basically cannot get prone to diseases like cancer if you follow his alkaline diet.
I drink kombucha, No 1 Rosemary Water and Chaga Life which is made of wild Siberian Chaga mushroom and full of the highest antioxidants.
I also do kundalini yoga every morning and walk on average 7 miles a day. I enjoy following an active lifestyle. I have a very energetic dog so he keeps me active!
What’s your top tip for bikini confidence?
Stay off the carbs before you hit the beach and stick to protein.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
In five years time I see myself in England with two kids. And business wise, I’m expanding in the New Year to a cashmere collection. Plus I have a collection coming out with Scott Henshall as part of our new brand, Hervey Henshall.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Follow what you love and what drives you.
